My first impression of Obnoxious Boot was, “friend”; the way he speaks to you feel like you’ve known him for years. Not only is he just a great lyricist, he might as well be considered a preacher, along on his tour he doesn’t tour with the other terrific hardcore bands, Rig Time! And Forest Wars. He also brings along messages of love, friendship, and support of one another. He brings a special connection to the venue that can’t bematched by anyone, he speaks about how we as people a part of the local scene, that we don’t need to be separated between Punk, Hardcore, and Metalcore, and that its all essentially the same and that just because there are small differences between every scene that we still need to love and support one another.
At first going to see Mr. Boot, it would come off as a bit of a “different” approach to a hardcore performance. Qubert Seiter, promoter, manager of 20 years works with a buddy of his in a studio back in Cincinnati and records tracks for his song and records a album and then goes on tour preforming his songs with only himself as the band. He plugs in his phone and goes at is, yelling powerful lyrics of meaning and a performance all full of nothing but love, but I’m sure most would see a lot of aggression.
Weather if you like hardcore or not or if you think the performance is just off, come to learn from him, this is a guy who lived through the hardcore scene during the 90s which was one of the best times for hardcore. He’ll tell you how it is in how messed up things are in the scene all over the country, and you can come see him on January at the Hoosier done or check out his great 5 song albums at https://theobnoxiousboot.bandcamp.com/releases
