Franklin, IN, be on the lookout because The Gear is back and stronger than ever! Jared Paris of ForeverAtLast has recently took up a very large position as venue booker/manager and after last night it's safe to say the venue is in great hands. This venue is nostalgic to some and brand new to others who never attended the old building pulling an old and young crowd to its grand reopening Friday, February 10th, 2017.
The night started with Chipped Teeth bringing the hardcore from Muncie. They made sure to warm the crowd up taking a few songs for the pit to open and everyone to get warmed up. After them the mood changed dramatically with a solo artist named Bogues, bringing the emotional sad rock, shortly after him girl power duo, Hail Your Highness, brought the punk rock all the way from Michigan, and Everyone Leaves followed them keeping the sad tunes coming and the crowd energized.
Closing the night were the last two bands, ForeverAtLast, and Forgotten Tragedy, both of which had The Gear's very own Jared Paris on drums. ForeverAtLast were as energetic as ever coming of a short hiatus made sure to keep the riffs coming. Mid set, we celebrated Jared's birthday with a rendition of "Jared you stupid freaking butthole". Following ForeverAtLast was the 'Dad Rock Christcore' legends in Forgotten Tragedy. They literally opened a time machine to 2008 where two-stepping and slam dancing were at its prime. You were able to see Lucha Libre mask, ski-mask, and denim jackets all in the same pit! This venue should not be under estimated because it's about to blow up! All around the venue was clean and welcoming. I cannot wait to see what they have in store for show goers in the future.
