We all know 2016 was a complete rollercoaster, but it contained some kickass shows. Here’s my top 5 shows from this year.
5. I Prevail - September 29th
This year was my second time seeing rising stars, I Prevail. While on tour opening for Pierce The Veil the band decided to host a headlining show at Emerson Theater in Indianapolis. The band far exceeded my expectations and put on a killer show. Not to mention their lighting setup was badass.
4. Palisades - February 14th
This year I had the pleasure of seeing Palisades twice, once on Valentines Day and another time later in the year. Both times at the Hoosier Dome; both times being blown away. The band increasingly gets better and puts on such an energy filled show I couldn’t help but toss my camera behind a march table and sing along in the crowd.
3. Emarosa - July 31st
I don’t even know where to begin with this band. To start off they’re incredibly solid and after their release of "131", they’ve been climbing their way to the top of the charts. Emarosa was one of my most anticipated bands to see/shoot on warped and they definitely didn’t disappoint.
2. Chase Hugin - April 1st
Up until this show I had never heard of Indiana native Chase Hugin, but after seeing his performance his name was one I definitely didn’t want to forget. Chase had every member of the audience hooked and played such a raw emotion packed set I had no choice but to include him on this list.
1. Sweet Ascent - June 23rd
Sweet Ascent’s tour route kept missing Indiana this year so I took it upon myself to bring them here and play and small little acoustic house show in my backyard. The crowd included really only my group of friends and was a super intimate and killer performance. This was the 3rd time I’d put on an acoustic house show with Sweet Ascent and they still found ways to make it uniquely different, and it’s a show very few people experienced but will never forget. Set’s like these are what really give the Kansas boys a special place in my heart.
