Way back in September of 2016, As It Is told us to “Please Stand By” on all their social media accounts. This hinted that the Fearless Records pop punk rockers were set to release their sophomore album.
“okay.” was released via Fearless on January 20th, 2017. What a way to kick off the new year for music! Simply put; this album is incredible. It’s a little more on the pop side in my opinion, but it definitely still harbors a punk vibe.
If you enjoyed their first release, “Never Happy, Ever After”, I can assure you that you will like this album as well. “okay.” dives deep lyrically, touching on topics of depression, anxiety, and loss. The bridge in “No Way Out” is raw and emotionally charged, talking about depression and how it can change your perception of yourself. My personal favorite lyric is in the album closing track, “Still Remembering”: “Can you tell me what hurts more, is it remembering? Or forgetting?”
Even though they touch on darker topics throughout this record, the music is still very catchy and upbeat for most of the tracks. During the promotion of the album, it was stated that the theme of the album is “the idea that its okay to not be okay”.
Here’s the Tracklist!
