I had the great fortune of meeting an interesting, kind bunch of guys that make a phenomenal band known The Millenium. I approached the Irvington theater and was welcomed with a warm hug by the manager of the band, Danielle. Then I waited for the band to get together and had some nice fun conversations while a while not during the interview. I was welcomed, and it had felt like I was just hanging around smoking with my regular friends that would come to shows with me, it was heartwarming. I gave the band very simple questions and they all answered beyond the response I initially expected.
How did everything start off for you as a band?
“The band started off originally as a duo with Kyle Culver (guitar)and I (Matt Hasenmuelle- vocals), and we want to become a live full band and it’s not like anything’s different between new and old for us, I mean we’ve had a couple different member line ups, but we’re just doing it we are on the highest mountain we can climb.”
“We were good friends with Kyle Featherstone’s old band “Picture Perfect”, We lived down the street from each other so we use to hang out all the time and we played shows in the area”
(Brandon Bruyette- Drums) “I was an internet find. It was in a PDF form, not even a jeg peg. And then the first practice I bailed on them.”
(Casey Sproatt -Bass) “I just answered a phone call….On a faithful October Eve”
What do you think will happen in the future of your band?
(Matt) “Well I think always we want to keep just growing and growing, we were very lucky when we got our foot out the front door with the experience of the entire band, but truly I think this is just the beginning for this band, I think we’ve had some success, but we are hungry for it. We want it.
How do you maintain a level heard being around each other all the time for weeks?
(Matt) “alone time. Even just headphones in the van, I’venoticed the habits I hate the most are the ones I do myself, He yawns so loud (Kyle), but I do the same thing.”
What do you do in your alone time?
(Matt) “ I enjoy going and finding dive bars and talking to random people and it breaks the monotony of always being with them.”
(Kyle) “We like exploring, going to different venues, exploring enemy territories.”
(Brandon) “See I like to walk alone especially with headphones but its hard cause I never know when im going to get robbed, you know? I walk a lonely road”
(Casey) “You walk a lonely road?”
(Matt) “The only road that you have ever known?"
They are very talented musician and very sweet and down to earth people that anyone could get along with, relate to, and that people could get to learn from if they could get a chance to ever meet this fine young group of guys that left Wisconsin in a van to go on tour.
